Paralegal – Medical Negligence

Salary up to £28,000 per annum

Full-time | 9.00am–5.00pm, Monday to Friday

Kirkby, Liverpool area

A well-established law firm is looking to appoint a Paralegal to join its Medical Negligence team. This is a fee-earning role handling a varied caseload and supporting clients through the claims process from instruction through to resolution. The position suits someone with experience in medical negligence who is looking to make that step up into handling their own files.

The Role

• Meeting clients in person and by telephone to take instructions
• Handling initial enquiries and preparing case summaries and initial documentation
• Completing risk assessments, due diligence checks, and conflict checks
• Maintaining accurate and detailed case records and correspondence notes
• Managing diaries and key deadlines, including limitation periods
• Obtaining and reviewing medical records and building case chronologies
• Undertaking initial liability and quantum investigations
• Preparing preliminary financial loss calculations
• Drafting legal documents including Letters of Claim, Witness Statements, and instructions to experts and Counsel
• Instructing experts and Counsel as required
• Arranging and attending meetings, conferences, and hearings where necessary
• Keeping clients updated throughout the progression of their claim
• Carrying out legal research to support case preparation
• Supporting wider team activity including networking and business development

• Experience working in medical negligence
